Mission Statement

At The 7th Limb, I believe meditation is one of yoga's most powerful and transformative practices. My mission is to help yoga teachers bring meditation into their classes with confidence, authenticity, and ease, creating space for students to experience yoga beyond the physical practice.

My Story

My yoga journey began in 2005 after the birth of my daughter. I was at the gym trying to be a runner and I would watch all the yogis go into class from the treadmill. One day, I mustered the courage to join them. At first, yoga was simply exercise to me. For the next decade or so, I practiced on and off, appreciating the physical benefits but never fully understanding the depth of the practice.

Everything changed when I found a class led by a teacher who took the time to teach yoga beyond the poses. He introduced yogic philosophy and meditation. My eyes opened. For the first time, I realized that yoga was much more than exercise. I became immersed in the practice, eventually trading weightlifting for a nearly daily yoga practice and beginning a deep personal study of yoga and meditation.

I enrolled in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training not because I wanted to teach, but because I was trying to understand the experiences I was having through yoga. What surprised me was how little meditation there was even though it’s The 7th Limb defined in the Yoga Sutra 2.29. That realization sparked years of exploration. I sought out meditation practices wherever I could find them, reading anything and everything and attending workshops, trainings, master classes, and continuing education programs in yoga, meditation, and Reiki.

During a 50-hour Power Yoga Teacher Training, my teacher invited me to lead a meditation session. Instead of offering a guided meditation, I shared simple ways teachers could integrate meditation into their existing classes. A few of my fellow students approached me in the following weeks telling me how it helped them - personally and in their teaching.

A realization hit me: every training I had completed was driven by a love of yoga and a desire to understand its deeper dimensions. I never wanted to be a yoga teacher. What if all of that study and experience could serve teachers instead? What if I could help bridge the gap between yoga teacher trainings and one of yoga's most transformative practices?

The answer became The 7th Limb.

Today, The 7th Limb is the expression of that vision. My hope is to help yoga teachers bring meditation into their classes in a way that feels natural, approachable, and authentic, while giving them practical tools they can immediately share with their students. Most yoga students never realize that meditation is a core component of the yogic tradition, and many teachers simply haven't been given the training or resources to confidently share it.
